A flex character can be played by either gender.
Single/Double/Triple casting will be done at the discretion of the directing team.
Belle* (Female) – Intelligent and kind, Belle is a natural beauty, but the townspeople are bewildered by her fondness for books and her independent personality. Belle confidently stands up to Gaston and the Beast but shows immense compassion for her father, the Servants, and eventually, the Beast himself.
Beast* (Male) – The Beast is the master of the castle who was transformed by the Enchantress’s spell. A complex character: a dictator, a defender, and a smitten prince. He is hot-tempered and commanding but has a warm, loving heart buried far beneath his gruff exterior.
Lumiere* (Flex) – A self-confident and charming French maître d’ who (under the Enchantress’ spell) is becoming a candelabra. Lumiere is a loyal servant with a larger-than-life personality.
Cogsworth* (Flex) – Cogsworth is the English major-domo of the castle who is becoming a mantle clock. He is uptight, strict, and punctual but also hard-working, faithful, and thorough.
Mrs. Potts* (Female) – The castle’s endearing cook who has been enchanted to become a teapot, Mrs. Potts is strong but sweet and maintains a comforting, maternal air amidst the chaos breaking out at the castle.
Madame de la Grande Bouche* (Female) – A former opera star-turned-enchanted wardrobe, she is caring and refined, if not a bit of a diva.
Chip* (Flex) – Mrs. Pott’s darling little boy who is enchanted to become a teacup. He is innocent, playful, and bright-eyed.
Babette* (Female) – Babette is the maid of the castle who is turning into a feather duster. She misses the finer things in life almost as much as she misses being human. She is beautiful, playful, and bold.
Gaston* (Flex) – Gaston is pompous, dim-witted, and will do whatever it takes to win Belle’s hand. Gaston has all the confidence in the world but lacks the humility for it to be charming rather than brutish and rude.
LeFou* (Flex) – Gaston’s bumbling sidekick. He is loyal, energetic, and optimistic, but not quite the brightest guy.
Maurice/Maureen* (Flex) – Belle’s loving, eccentric father/mother. A child at heart and an avid inventor.
Les Filles (Female) – A group of giggly girls who are in love (*ahem* obsessed) with Gaston.
Narrators (Flex) – A group of strong actors who guide the focus and pace of the story.
Monsieur/Madame d’Arque (Flex) – The dark owner of the lunatic asylum. They are a scheming and sinister villain who aids Gaston in his plot to marry Belle.

Baker (Flex) – A busy baker who needs baguettes more than the details of Belle’s silly stories.
Bookseller (Flex) – The friendly owner of the bookshop who supports Belle’s reading habits.
Aristocratic Lady, Lady with Cane, Lady with Baby, Sausage Curl Girl, Candle Seller, Fishmonger, Hatseller, Egg Seller, Milkmaid, Shepherd Boy, Butcher (Flex) – Soloists during the opening number.
