The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

When four siblings step through an ordinary wardrobe, they discover the extraordinary world of Narnia—a land trapped in an endless winter by the powerful White Witch. Aslan
Male, Adult
A great ruler who takes the form of a lion. Aslan is so powerful that the mere mention of his name inspires strong feelings of terror and wonder in all who hear it. Despite his great power, he is frequently absent from Narnia and it is implied that he travels from world to world and realm to realm saving those in distress. Aslan is empathetic and kind, but his strong moral compass and decisive nature make him frightening to those who don’t know him very well.

Lucy
Female, 7-12
Youngest child; curious, open-minded, friendly, and brave. Lucy is deeply kind, inquisitive, and open. She is the most naïve, but also the most in touch with wonder, magic, and the ability to believe in goodness, righteousness, and fantastical things. Deep connection with Aslan.

Susan
Female, 13-18
Oldest girl; strong and nurturing, but a bit guarded. Susan is wise, contemplative, and usually the one attempting to keep the peace between her three other siblings. She has a great deal of empathy for all the creatures she encounters in Narnia, and seems to have an intuitive bond with the natural world. Deep connection with Aslan.

Edmund
Male, 12-18
Youngest boy; angry and misses home/parents. He is depicted as selfish and greedy, but despite his traitorous ways, is a complex character who is often conflicted. He knows that many of his actions are wrong, deep down, but is usually too selfish to do the right thing. Edmund returns from Narnia a much more thoughtful and just person, known for his clear headed judgment.

Peter
Male, 13-18
Oldest boy and calming presence. Peter is in many ways their natural leader. During the journey to Narnia, he proves himself to be brave and heroic and his physical involvement in many fights and battles marks him as his siblings’ foremost protector. During his reign as High King of Narnia, Peter is well known as a great warrior and leader.

Tumnus
Male or Female, Indeterminate Age
A forest faun; nervous and unsure, has noble intentions but is scared of the Witch. He and Lucy develop a fiercely loyal friendship.
Fauns are woodland creatures with the legs of a goat and the upper body of a human. They characteristically had curly hair, small horns, and long tails. They enjoy dancing and playing music, and their faces are simultaneously “mournful and merry”.

Jadis, the White Witch
Female or Male, Adult
An evil dictator and military leader. The pretender to the throne of Narnia, the White Witch calls herself Queen of the realm but is actually an evil, ancient entity determined to thwart the prophecy which foretells that four Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve (Peter, Susan, Edmund, & Lucy) will one day sit on the Narnian thrones at Cair Paravel

Mr Beaver
Male, Adult
A good and hard working soul. Follower of Aslan. He helps prepare the Pevensie children for battle against the White Witch by sheltering them from danger and leading them to Aslan.
Mr. Beaver is also the one who recognizes that Edmund is under the White Witch’s spell and is not to be trusted.

Mrs Beaver
Female, Adult
A good and hard working soul. Follower of Aslan. She is kind, nurturing, and smart. She helps prepare the Pevensie children for battle against the White Witch by sheltering them from danger and leading them to Aslan

Fenris Ulf
Male or Female; Indeterminate Age
A diabolical talking wolf who serves as the White Witch’s head of security. Described as “a huge grey beast – its eyes flaming – far too big to be a dog.” He is also one of the White Witch’s most loyal followers, and was known for his cruelty and viciousness to the other Narnians.

Dwarf
Male or Female
Short in stature; servant and lackey to the Witch and one of the most loyal followers of Jadis. Also known for their cruelty and viciousness to the other Narnians.

Father Christmas
Male, Adult
The appearance of Father Christmas is a sign of the weakening of the power the White Witch has held over Narnia. Although they are bringer of gifts, they should not be thought of as “Santa Claus”, but more of a cross between Santa and a Celtic god of the wood. Father Christmas symbolizes benevolence and bounty.

Elf
Male or Female, Indeterminate Age
The Elf is the assistant to Father Christmas, helping him to deliver his gifts to everyone in Narnia. He visits the children at Mr. and Mrs. Beaver’s house. At first, everyone but Lucy believes that he is the Dwarf that works for the White Witch and that they have been caught. Fights in the battle against the White Witch.

Unicorn/Sentinel
Male or Female, Indeterminate Age
Unicorns were noble and honorable creatures that “not even a king would think of riding a unicorn except in some great need.” All known Unicorns were fiercely loyal to Aslan, and were well known for their wisdom. A transcendent presence that makes it known magic exists in this world. White horse-like creatures with a single golden horn protruding from their foreheads.

Centaur/Sentinel
Male or Female
The centaurs of Narnia are noble beings and are one of the most loyal creatures to Aslan and to Narnia. They are highly skilled in astronomy and divination, being able to read the stars and tell of future events. They are also proficient warriors and healers. No one would dare laugh at a Centaur, and no one who valued his life would dare try to put a saddle on one. It was a great honor to be able to ride a Centaur, though one had to ride bareback. Out of all the creatures of Narnia, they were the most respected.

Beautiful fox-like humanoids that are noble, intelligent, kind, and steadfast in Narnia that fight in Aslan’s Army.

2nd Animal (Cheetah)/2nd Army
Male or Female
Fast, intelligent, and peaceful creatures in Narnia that fight in Aslan’s Army.

3rd Animal (Sloth)/3rd Army
Male or Female
Sloths live in Narnia’s northlands. They are very loyal to Aslan and fight for what’s right. They also fight in Aslan’s Army.

1st Newcomer

Cursed by Jadis and frozen in statue form, they come to life to help fight in Aslan’s Army.

2nd Newcomer

Winter’s Breath/Spring’s Breath
Dancers and Movers
Winter’s Breath brings us into Narnia and Spring’s Breath brings Narnia back to life. The Witch can control Narnia, but she isn’t Narnia. Winter’s Breath exists under her reign, constrained and frozen. Spring’s Breath reveals what was underneath all along. These movement ensembles embody that changing spirit, carrying us from the first breath of an enchanted winter to the awakening of spring.
